About Morrisons Fuel

Morrisons began selling fuel in the UK over 40 years ago and steadily expanded its petrol station network to become a prominent player in the market. By 2023, Morrisons operated around 340 fuel station sites across the UK, holding a 9.5% share of the UK fuel retail market. This placed Morrisons as the sixth largest fuel retailer based on motor fuel sales volume.

In a major move, Morrisons announced the sale of its entire petrol forecourt business to Motor Fuel Group (MFG) in a £2.5 billion deal. This transaction, completed in April 2024, included 337 Morrisons-branded petrol stations and over 400 associated sites across the UK. However, as part of the agreement, Morrisons retained a 20% stake in MFG and established commercial and supply agreements with the group to ensure the smooth continuation of services.

For customers, this means that Morrisons branding will remain on the forecourts, preserving the familiar experience at the pump. While ownership has changed, the collaboration ensures that Morrisons will continue to play a role in delivering fuel services to its customers across the UK.

This strategic decision allows Morrisons to focus on its core grocery business while still benefiting from its partnership with MFG, one of the UK's largest independent fuel retailers.

Morrisons Loyalty Scheme

Morrisons More Card holders can earn points on their fuel purchases at Morrisons petrol stations.

Customers earn 5 points for every litre of fuel purchased at Morrisons petrol stations by scanning their More Card or the app during checkout. During promotional periods, such as the "More Month" in September, this can be doubled to 10 points per litre.

When customers accumulate 5,000 points, they are rewarded with a ‘Morrisons Fiver’, which is a £5 voucher that can be spent in-store or online. This voucher can be used to reduce the cost of their weekly shop or saved up for future purchases.
