This statement applies to petrolsavings.com. We want everyone to be able to compare fuel prices, whether you use a phone, a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification or voice control.
Our accessibility standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. In practice, that means we design the site so that:
- every page starts with a "Skip to content" link, so keyboard users can jump past the menu;
- you can reach and use links, buttons and form fields with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline;
- the main buttons and controls are at least 44 by 44 pixels, so they are easier to tap;
- colour is never the only signal: cheapest, nearest and price freshness labels also use words or icons, and closed stations are labelled as well as greyed out;
- form fields have labels, and form errors are listed at the top of the form and announced to screen readers;
- the list of stations works on its own, so you can find prices even if the map doesn't load or you can't use it.
How accessible this website is
We have not yet had an independent accessibility audit, so we can't say the whole site fully meets WCAG 2.1 AA. We check our main pages with automated accessibility tests and keyboard tests (see How we test and improve), and we fix problems we find.
If something on the site stops you from finding the information you need, please tell us and we will help you get it another way.
Parts that may be harder to use
We know these parts of the site may not work well for everyone:
- Maps. Interactive maps can be hard to use with a keyboard or screen reader. The station list shows the same stations and prices, and works without the map.
- Charts. Price trend charts may not describe every value to screen readers. Contact us if you need the figures behind a chart.
- Wide tables. Some tables, such as the ones on our cookie and attribution pages, are shown as cards on phones but may need sideways scrolling on medium-sized screens.
- Other companies' services. We can't fully control the accessibility of content provided by others, including map tiles, Google adverts, Google reCAPTCHA on the contact form, and the government Fuel Finder form for reporting a wrong price.
Reporting a problem
If you find a barrier on the site, or need information in a different format, email hello@petrolsavings.com with "Accessibility issue" in the subject line. You can also use our contact form: choose "General enquiry" and mention accessibility in your message.
It helps if you tell us:
- the page address, or the postcode or station you were looking at;
- what you were trying to do and what went wrong;
- the device, browser or assistive technology you were using, if you know it.
You don't need to share any medical information. We usually reply within two working days, and we will tell you what we plan to do and when.
If you're not happy with our response
If you are not happy with how we respond, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) for advice in England, Scotland and Wales. In Northern Ireland, contact the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland.
How we test and improve
- Automated accessibility tests (axe) run every night on the homepage, search results, station pages and brand pages, checking for WCAG A and AA issues.
- Browser tests check that the skip link, tooltips and key buttons work with a keyboard and are large enough to tap.
- We also run Lighthouse accessibility checks on key pages.
We review this statement when we make significant changes to the site. It was last reviewed on 14 October 2026.
