Common questions
We compare the cheapest eligible nearby price with your nearest open station and multiply the difference by your typical fill size. If the cheaper station is further away, we take off the fuel needed to drive there and back. If that extra driving costs more than you would save, we say there is no saving.
The cheapest price leaves out low-confidence prices and temporarily closed stations, the same rule as our search results, so it can be a station that is closed right now; its opening status is shown so you can check. The nearest station must be open. Freshness warnings stay visible separately.
We multiply the saving per fill (after any extra driving) by an assumed number of fill-ups per year, shown in the assumptions panel.
