Essar owns the Stanlow oil refinery near Ellesmere Port in Cheshire, which makes about a sixth of the UK's road fuel and trades as EET Fuels. Essar also puts its own name on petrol stations, mainly in the North West, North Wales and the Midlands.

Essar's petrol station business is growing fast. In September 2026 it agreed to buy SGN Retail's 118 forecourts, which would roughly double its network, and it aims to supply 800 UK petrol stations from Stanlow by 2031.
